‘Infallibly good’

This Italian heavyweight is rich, robust and full bodied. It pairs well with rich risottos, red meat and why not… haggis.

Product Description

This Barbera comes from a range of hills in the Monferrato UNESCO World Heritage area called the Zucchetto – a word also used to describe the ‘little pumpkin’ hat the Pope wears.

Meet The Producer
Azienda Agricola Franco Roero is a fourth generation family winery, farming 15 hectares of vineyards and run by a straight-talking, no-nonsense type of guy who’s just like his wines. Franco’s family has been making wine here since 1894 and he personally manages the whole wine production process – from pruning the vines to harvesting, fermentation and even sales. I bought the Barbera which was fantastic and enjoyed by many. Can highly recommend.

Our wine arrived today (really speedy delivery in sound packaging) and oh the excitement! We ordered 1 box and 2 bottles. Chris is in love with the bottles, they are truly stunning. We bought them to gift some of the wine to a friend. As for the box? We put the kids to bed and promptly cracked that baby open. Smells good, tastes good, and some more of it is currently sitting in a decanter because 2 glasses in, we had to actively stop ourselves from drinking any more. Just so tasty! We’ll definitely be back from more.

My first experience of a Barbera. Great quality wine, paired well with lots of different foods. Not a grape seen on our shelves that often, the Italians keep all the good stuff for themselves ! Not any more…..

Wow, what a great wine. My first experience of When In Rome wine. I could talk about the deep complex flavours, but no snobbery here, just a highly enjoyable red. Easy to have just a glass, knowing it will keep for ages.

A smooth, great tasting red – dangerously “quaffable” it’s so easy to keep topping up the glass!
After being gifted a bottle we were very quick to buy a box of our own!
